Honda has just unveiled the next generation of the Passport, and it’s truly impressive.
The Japanese automaker’s midsize SUV finally boasts a design that matches its personality. The model offers improved off-road driving capabilities. The interior features a more modern and advanced design than ever before. Lastly, the 2026 Passport even benefits from mechanical enhancements.
I must admit, I wasn’t particularly drawn to the design of the current-generation Passport when it launched. It was simply too understated and unremarkable. However, the new generation of the Japanese SUV is the complete opposite. It sports a new boxy and more rugged silhouette. The front lighting commands respect, and the overall look of the model clearly indicates that it was built for off-road driving.
The Japanese automaker’s SUV has received numerous upgrades both inside and out. The dashboard has been completely redesigned, now featuring a massive 12.3-inch display at the top and a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also part of the offering. One of the most notable improvements is the seating, which is more comfortable than ever and tailored for off-road driving with better lateral support. As if that weren’t enough, the Japanese SUV offers a more generous cargo space than ever before. Overall, there’s an additional 156 liters of cargo capacity, which is no small feat.
The 2026 Honda Passport is equipped with the same trusty 3.5-liter V6 as before. However, it now benefits from a few upgrades that increase its power from 280 to 285 horsepower. Additionally, Honda has replaced the 9-speed automatic transmission with a new 10-speed automatic.
The 2026 Honda Passport is expected to arrive at dealerships in early 2025. Two versions will be available: TrailSport and TrailSport Touring, setting the tone for the off-road focus of Honda’s SUV. Off-road-capable SUVs are very popular right now, and the 2026 Honda Passport will undoubtedly rank among the most exciting models in its segment. Needless to say, I can’t wait to test it out.
