How the 2023 Honda CR-V compares to the Nissan Rogue

The Nissan Rogue has made a good impression since its arrival on the market and each new generation that has been introduced has always proven to be far superior to its predecessor. The latest one, launched for 2021, has impressed many. However, it doesn't have all the tools to compete with the best in class, a list of vehicles that includes Honda's new 2023 CR-V.

Here's how the two models compare.

Comfort and handling

The driving experience of both models offers some similarities, but shows significant differences. If there's one area where things are comparable, it's in comfort. So it's a tie. However, when it comes to dynamism, the new CR-V has a stiffer chassis than the Rogue. Consequently, for the best driving experience, the one that offers the best balance, it's the CR-V that you should turn to.

Hybrid

The new Honda CR-V will be offered in hybrid configuration this fall. A 2.0-litre 4-cylinder engine will work in conjunction with electric motors to deliver the best possible fuel economy (around 6 L/100 km). With the Rogue, you have to make do with what powertrains can offer, which is about 2 liters more in combined driving. By offering a hybrid version, Honda is putting its model far ahead of the Rogue, which is not available in this way.

Reliability

Finally, despite Nissan's best efforts, there's one area where the company, like many others, can't compete with Honda: reliability. The CR-V has proven itself over the years and because it gets the same powertrains (the hybrid model was offered in the U.S.), we have no worries about the future.

And add to that the fact that because of all these elements, the CR-V's resale value is higher than the Rogue's.

Really, the comparison between the two models can't be flattering to the Rogue, but not because of a lack of qualities. It's simply because the CR-V's qualities are too numerous.
