New vehicle warranty
The powertrain of a new vehicle is covered for five years or 100,000 kilometers, while most other components are covered for three years or 60,000 kilometers. For instance, if you buy a two-year-old vehicle with 40,000 kilometers, you still have one year or 20,000 kilometers left on your new vehicle warranty, and you still have three years or 60,000 kilometers left on your powertrain warranty. A four-year-old vehicle with 95,000 km has only 5000 km left on the powertrain warranty and is no longer covered by the new vehicle warranty.
Try to find a vehicle with the longest remaining warranty balance. This is the best warranty you can get on a pre-owned vehicle.
Certified pre-owned vehicle warranty
An extended warranty is one of the many benefits of a certified pre-owned vehicle. Buying a certified pre-owned vehicle is a great option when you cannot find a pre-owned vehicle with the original warranty. As well as the original 5-year/100,000-km powertrain warranty, Honda certified pre-owned vehicles come with an additional 2-year/60,000-kilometer warranty.
Extended warranties
A dealership can offer you an extended warranty if the vehicle you're considering isn't covered by a new vehicle warranty, is about to expire, and isn't certified. Your dealer will explain every option available to you.
